Midday Break: Write a Love Letter

There’s something about writing out our feelings that is inspiring, cathartic, and connects us on a deeper level.  Today, take a 5 minute break to write a “love” letter. Pure and simple.

It can be to anyone – your partner, your best friend, your mom, your dad, your children, your first influential school teacher, your neighbor for watering your plants when she does hers, your postman for always coming on time – just spread a little joy and love.

* Who Gets the Love

First, choose who you want to send the letter to. Then, grab a pen and paper/postcard/post-it/note card, and write a short and sweet note letting the recipient know why you “love” him or her.

*Personal Details Make it Lovlier

Keep it very personal – nothing generic. For example, if your husband folded the laundry last night, write something like “Folded laundry and YOU make me smile. I love you. XOX” Or, if your mom picked up your kids from dance class, try something like “Ballet is beautiful and so are you. I love you. Thanks for always helping out.” Of course, use your own words, just remember the fine everyday details make it extra special.

* Seal and Send

Mail the letter. As tempting as it may be to just leave the note with the person, putting it in an envelope, sealing, and stamping it give a little extra ‘love letter pizazz’ to your note.
