Embrace Rain in a Warm Milk Bath

Embrace Rain in a Warm Milk Bath

It is raining today. LuLu, Little Man, and I are on our front porch just watching it fall. The kids are calmer on the porch when it rains – it relaxes their energetic little bodies. And, it is such a wonder to witness the drops covering the blades of grass and Lu’s flower petals in uniquely beautiful patterns; the sound soothing to our ears.

I think rain gets a bad rap. Sure, it may cause delays when you’re traveling or create frizz out of a freshly blown out head of hair, but I think it’s nature’s way of telling us to stop and breathe. It’s fun to embrace the rain, and when it’s a soft rain like today, I like to relax right along with it. I am planning a milk bath when my hubby gets home and kids fall asleep. It is a simple homemade mix that has healing benefits to the body.

What You’ll Need

Warm Water

Milk

Sea Salt

Baking Soda

Let’s Do It

In a large bowl mix together the 2 cups of milk, 1 cup of sea salt, and 1 cup of baking soda. Run your bath to a warm temperature, and pour the mixture in. Set a more serene mood by using just candlelight. Leave the books on the bookshelf and turn your mind off. Open your windows, let the breeze flow through, and just listen to the rain.

Bonus Benefits

Milk has natural softening and soothing properties. It contains natural lipids that deeply moisturize the skin. The sea salt will help improve circulation, assist in rejuvenating the cells, and completely relaxes the body. Baking soda is known as a detox for the body making us feel re-energized, and has an alkalizing effect to counter acidity typically caused by red meats, cheese, sugar, and refined foods. All those benefits, plus soft skin and relaxation…

By the way, Cleopatra bathed regularly in milk to keep her skin glowing and radiant.
