I am a “No Excuses!” person, and I truly believe in the oldie but goodie, “when there’s a will, there’s a way.” Excuses are the biggest roadblock to moving forward.
One of my favorites, Dr. Dyer, just wrote a whole book about it, entitled “Excuses Begone”. I also interviewed a fabulous guest on my radio show, author of Widows Wear Stilettos, Carole Brody Fleet. She said the ONE thing that stops us from achieving what we want is (you guessed it) EXCUSES!
And let’s face it, we all have ‘em. We’ve all used ‘em. But, if you’re wondering why you are stuck in a rut, or you aren’t getting what you want from life, I say first things first, take an “Excuses Inventory”. Write down every excuse you are using to not do what you want to do. For example:
I would love to be healthier, but I am juggling a million things.
I wish I could start that business, but I don’t have the means.
Be happy? Sounds nice, but I am so stressed out.
Yes, I need to get my oil changed in the car, but I don’t have time.
I could go on, but I think you get my drift. Excuses are like a rope that binds us. We must free ourselves from any self-limiting belief. The beautiful thing about life is the infinite power we have within ourselves to create, to grow, to be; we just have to believe there are no limitations and our mind opens up, ‘excuses’ subside. Remember the quote: “Nothing is impossible to the willing heart.”
Once you recognize the excuses you are making, you can acknowledge them, take a moment to say your goodbyes, and then make a choice to move forward. Life is short, and we have much to experience, enjoy, and learn when we truly live it, so let’s not let “the dog keep eating our homework”…we all deserve live without limits.
