Our Sweet Spring Fling to Celebrate TCBY Yogurt at Walmart Stores

The weather has been just divine lately – truly springtime in New Jersey!! Connecting with family is always fun, especially when frozen treats are involved.

I remember when I was a little girl, some of my favorite times included ice cream cones with my mom, dad, brother, grandma millie, aunts, uncles, and cousins!! We used to go to Wildwood together every year, and I’ll never forget the summer they added a TCBY stand to the boardwalk – my mother was SO excited!! Anything with a healthier twist made her happy. I couldn’t taste the difference between the yogurt and the other ice cream stands, so I was just thrilled she let us eat ‘ice cream’ every night!!

So, when the opportunity came along to participate in a campaign to celebrate the launch of TCBY available in Walmart stores, I wanted IN!! Family, fun, frozen yogurt — the perfect reason to party and pass along some traditions to our munchkins!!

With the date set, RSVP’s in, and TCBY in stock in our local Walmart, I went shopping! I picked up some new ice cream bowls, napkins, an ice cream scooper, even some flowers (it was the first day of spring, after all!), and then headed over to stock up on the frozen yogurt – it’s available in the grocery near the ice cream. I dashed home to set up shop! I have to admit, I fell in love love love with the new packaging – so bright and cheery!

And there were so many amazing flavors to choose from, I opted to grab them all! We had quarts of Classic Vanilla Bean, Cookies & Cream, English Toffee Crunch, and Strawberry Swirl! Plus, there were novelties, too, including Chocolate Fudge Bars, Orange & Vanilla Bars, Strawberry Swirl Bars, and Frozen Yogurt Sandwiches…need I say more? Everything looked so fresh and delicious! LuLu and the Little Man could hardly wait to dive in while we were getting ready for the party.

And, with 7 probiotics in each, TCBY also has extra health benefits – which definitely gets a WOOHOO from me!! TCBY frozen yogurt is considered ‘Super Fro Yo’. According to the TCBY website, Super Fro Yo is “a new classification of super nutritious frozen yogurt that remains unparalleled.” My mom (aka Nonni) was definitely happy to see this healthier alternative…see, she’s reading the label!!

To qualify as Super Fro-Yo, most of our frozen yogurts meet or exceed the following guidelines per serving:*

Fiber: Must have a minimum of 3 grams
Probiotics: Must have a minimum of 7 types of live & active cultures
Vitamin D: Must have a minimum of 20% DV
Calcium: Must have a minimum of 20% DV
Protein: Must have a minimum of 4 gram

In addition to the above nutritionals, the following values are also present in Super Fro-Yo: 120 calories or less; minimum 10% DV Vitamin A; 1 gram or less of saturated fat; minimum of 20 billion live & active cultures per serving at manufacturing.

*Based on a 4 fl. oz (1/2 cup) serving. Percent DV based on 2,000 calorie diet. Information on daily values is rounded according to FDA guidelines.

The party was an absolute blast, and the kiddies definitely had their fill of TCBY!! LuLu began with Classic Vanilla Bean in a chocolate dipped cone, moved on to a bowl of Cookies & Cream, and then had a Frozen Yogurt Sandwich!!

My niecy finished off her cone of a double-scoop of English Toffee Crunch, had a Chocolate Fudge Bar, and still found room to slurp some Classic Vanilla Bean through a straw! Oh yes, that’s a huge smile from a happy girl!

The Little Man had his fair share, also! From the Orange & Vanilla Bar to a sugar cone filled with Strawberry Swirl and Classic Vanilla Bean, he was one happy boy!

And, the adults dug in, too! The hubby loved the Frozen Yogurt Sandwich, Nonni enjoyed her Strawberry Swirl Bar, Grandma couldn’t get over the Cookies ‘n Cream, and my sister-in-law adored the English Toffee Crunch! My favorite was the Strawberry Swirl ice cream in a bowl with dark chocolate chips and a little shredded coconut – pure deliciousness!!!

The party went on for hours, we tasted the TCBY, chatted together, laughed a lot, and ended in a round of dress up with the girls…the Little Man hid from us, he was NOT in the mood to play the Prince again
