I have been on every diet A-Z. You name it, I tried it. It got so bad that I had no clue what to eat. Should I have carbs? lowfat? the zone? deal-a-meal? lean cuisine? low calorie? Then one day it dawned on me that I didn’t even know what types of food were actually healthy.
So, years ago when I was re-learning what healthy really meant, I decided to make up what I call “The Laundry Rule”. I was always pretty meticulous when it came to my clothing, spent too much on dry cleaning, and would only use certain detergents. Then one day I realized, if only I treated my body the way I cared for my clothing.
So the Laundry Rule simply put is:
Be as careful with your body as you are with your laundry!
Think about it- we separate our whites from darks, we don’t mix towels with delicates, but we are so quick to put unnatural foods into our bodies that wreak havoc on our well-being. Food is fuel- it should have function AND flavor. Natural, fresh foods taste great and fill our bodies with nutrients that protect us, energize us, and improve our mood. With our busy schedules, what could be better than that?

I love your laundry rule analogy. I started reading ingredient labels and not just calorie and carb information. I was shocked and dismayed at all the chemicals I was putting in my body. Thanks for all the wonderful information and inspiration.
